Colombian coffee is renowned for its exceptional quality, stemming from the country's diverse landscapes and ideal growing conditions. Introduced to South America by Dutch settlers in the 18th century, coffee has since become an integral part of Colombia's culture and economy.
The most famous coffee-growing regions in Colombia include Antioquia, Huila, Caldas, Tolima, Sierra Nevada, Santander, and Valle de Cauca, collectively known as the "coffee axis." The varying altitudes in these regions contribute to distinct flavor profiles, making Colombian coffee truly unique. The two primary types of Colombian coffee are Colombia Supremo and Colombia Excelso, distinguished by their bean size; Supremo beans are larger, with a screen size of 17/18, while Excelso beans have a screen size of 15.
